Guardian Angels Distance Learning Arrangements in the Case of a School Closure due to Coronavirus
Staff have been working to put things in place so that children can continue to complete learning at home should the school have to close or pupils and families have to self-isolate. We have now made the following arrangements to support pupils and parents at home. Please note that if pupils are themselves ill they are not expected to complete learning until they are fully recovered. Should you have any questions regarding distance learning, please speak to your child’s class teacher for more information.
Google Classroom is a free web service, developed by Google for schools, that aims to simplify creating and distributing assignments and learning tasks in a paperless way. The primary purpose of Google Classroom is to streamline the process of sharing files between teachers and students.
A simple video guide for parents on how to use Google Classroom can be viewed here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Iowi-gmbys).
Each child in the school has their unique Google username and password which they will need to access the service. This should be in their home learning book. If it is not, please contact their class teacher as soon as possible or e-mail using the address below.
Teachers will set work to be completed on a weekly basis and it will appear in the Google Classroom by 9am each Monday morning. There will be a week’s worth of English, Maths, RE and/or Topic work. It will not be possible for feedback to be given on this work therefore teachers will include answers wherever possible so that it can be marked with an adult or self-marked at home.
Please note that we will only be able to do this on the basis that staff themselves do not become ill. In the case of staff sickness, then the following self-directed resources can be used.
Twinkl are offering a free service for parents. They offer a selection of printable activities for all areas of the curriculum. If you don’t have access to a printer you can use their online game area Twinkl Go! They also have a selection of original eBooks which can be viewed on their Twinkl Originals page. You may also choose to join their Book Club to receive physical books in the post every half term [fees may apply].
BBC Bitesize provides free curriculum guides and games for all areas of the curriculum.
If your child is in Year 3-6 you can access the KS2 page here
Purple Mash is an online provider of activities and study guides for pupils in KS1 and KS2. Each child at Guardian Angels has their own log in to the site. This should be in their home learning book. If it is not please contact their class teacher as soon as possible or e-mail using the address below.
NRich Maths provides a variety of maths-based problems and games for children from Reception to Year 6.
If your child is in Reception you can access the relevant activities here.
If your child is in Year 1 – 6 you can access the relevant activities here.
If the school should close, printed work packs will be sent home with the children who are not already self-isolating. We will also try to scan these packs and upload them on to the class pages of the website. Year six pupils also have their revision/study books which they should use at home. The school will set which pages to complete whilst you are away from class.
If you have any problems accessing the above then please contact the school via e-mail using the following e-mail address: email@example.com
Please note that whilst we endeavor to respond to e-mails as soon as possible, we cannot guarantee a same-day response. We shall aim to respond in as timely a manner as possible given the current circumstances.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding during this time.
Kind regards,All of the staff at Guardian Angels School
